BioSpot is a bridge between researchers, their ideas, inventions and potential investors via a web based platform and/or annual presentation conference series “BioSpot Conference”.

upcoming 5th BioSpot Annual Conference: March 5, 2020

BioSpot DATABASE

The web BioSpot Database collates and advertises technologies available for licensing in the field of life-sciences.

Researchers can submit their inventions on the website for internal evaluation by experts. Submissions are reviewed for a content, quality of research data and maturity. Technologies which pass an initial quality check are published on the website and inventors are welcome to consider their presentation of the same at the Annual Biospot Conference. Publication of technologies on the BioSpot website is free of charge.

Those who wish to present their technologies at annual BioSpot Conferences are welcome to do so. The maximum of 10-20 technologies is selected by the Board of Referees and scheduled for oral or poster presentations (or both) at annual Biospot Conference. The innovative one day conference takes place in Prague.

BioSpot is meant to be a platform for researchers and inventors with entrepreneurial ambitions. There are principal investigators who would like to apply their knowledge to the development of a product. There are investors, business angels, venture capitalists who are looking for investment opportunities. There are technology transfer professionals,  spin off companies´ representatives, biopharmaceutical industry with an appetite to license and develop innovative and proprietary products from inventors.

DATABASE REGISTRATION

Technology submission to BioSpot Database is subject to registration. The registration is free of charge. The technology submition in BioSpot Database and its publication is subject to Board of Referees’ approval. At the moment your technology has been approved for inserting and publishing in BioSpot Database, you will be informed about the fact via e-mail. The technology registration deadline is usually in 30th January.

Please consider that only non-confidential information is allowed to be published in BioSpot Database and BioSpot website.

If you wish to submit your technology to BioSpot Database, please register yourself. Then add your technology by filling out a template form for a technology registration (you may use the sample technology sheet for guidance). Whenever you finish, please save the additions and you can return to the form later to modify, change and complete the registration process. Once the technology description has been completed, please press save and send button and the technology will be submitted for evaluation with no further editing options.

Only fully completed and submitted technologies will be considered for a publication or evaluation. Please ensure that the Confidential Agreement check box is checked. Please also ensure that the information you insert is not confidential as it will be published on BioSpot website and become a public domain. In case of interest, confidential information may be shared with industry/investors later based on direct bilateral agreements.

In case of any significant improvements of a published technology there can be done any modifications and updates of the technology through a log-in form.

 ANNUAL CONFERENCES

The conferences are organized annually to bring Central European life-science researchers face-to-face with industry representatives and to enable them to present their most promising ideas in a per-determined format. Participation at the Conference is by registration only and is restricted to inventors, their technology-transfer officers (TTO), pharma-industry representatives, investment funds and research & innovation governing/funding agencies. Each presenter has a unique opportunity to present his/her ideas and to deliver an investment or collaborative proposal to an audience. The official language of the Conference is English. Please consider that only non-confidential information is allowed to be published on BioSpot website and at the Conference.

BioSpot Annual Conferences are held once a year, usually in March.

The Conference has two main sections:

  1. Oral section – oral presentations of the most interesting technologies summed into a 10 minute synopsis.
  2. Poster section – introducing of other promising technologies which have not been selected for the oral presentations. Poster size is: A0.

We recommend the following structure of an oral presentation:

  •  What is it? (system, product, prototype, …)
  •  Why does it exist? Which problem does it solve?
  •  For whom? (Who is the target customer…?)
  •  What is the solution? (What are the benefits?)
  •  Why you? Why are you unique?
  •  How does the future looks like with you.

We also recommend the following areas to be prepared for answering during the Q&A (questions & answers) session:

  •  How big is the market potential?
  •  How will it make money? How business model works?
  •  Who is your team? Why is this team unique?
  •  What is a market validation? Do you already have any paying customers?
  •  What is a roadmap/strategy of (development, sales, expansion, …)?
  •  Have you got any IP and/or patents? What is a unit economics (cost of acquisition per customer, margin, LTV lifetime value)?
  •  What is a return of Investment?
  •  What are your biggest challenges?
  •  What is your “unfair” advantage?

The conference programme is always available on web 1 week before the Conference begins.

REGISTRATION

Participation at the Conference is subject to registration and is restricted to inventors, their technology-transfer officers (TTO), pharma-industry representatives, investment funds and research & innovation governing/funding bodies.

The registration fee is CZK 2 500 (excl. VAT) per 1 person attending BioSpot conference. The registration fee is to be paid by card on-line at the moment of registration or via bank transfer (within several days your registration has been submitted, you will get an invoice with all necessary billing data; payment must be done within the time limit specified therein).

Participants can attend BioSpot conferences without submitting a technology. All participants have to pay the registration fee.

At the moment your technology has been approved for oral or poster presentation you will be informed about it via e-mail.

Please consider that only a non-confidential information is allowed to be published on BioSpot website and at the Conference.

If you are a researcher or other scientific staff and have promising intellectual property and/or technology ready to be licensed then read more about the technology registration and BioSpot Database.
